The Trang Archipelago is south of Phuket and Krabi. Trang City is 300 km south of Phuket reachable by bus or car. Its a very relaxed ambience at Trang City and the Pak Meng Beach area which is about 12km to the west and the islands in the Trang Archipelago, there are more than 50 islands with several hotels, resorts, beach cottages and bungalows on the islands, usually direct at the beach. Boats for sightseeing tours start at the north end of Pak Meng Beach and at Kantang south of Pak Meng. For a first orientation visit the Trang tourist office just around the corner at the Trang hotel. They have every information available.

The Similan archipelago is probably the best scuba diving location in Thailand. The little problem is thee are no hotels or resorts on the islands. Only some flimsy beach bungalows on the main Similan Island, island no.4, the reason is, this is a Thailand Marine National Park and that means no houses etc. The result is booking the bungalows, which is almost impossible because of a very long reservation backlog, do a liveaboard tour out of Phuket, start at the Tap Lamru pier via booking the tour and / or the dive boats or stay in a nearby hotel at Khao Lak and board a speedboat everyday in the morning, but the speedboats have no scuba diving equipment.
